Are weekly player stats provided with the program?

Weekly stats are provided for an extra charge. You can get just the program and manually enter stats, or you can buy the stats and import them. Stats are free for the first 3 weeks of the season and then are password protected after week 3. If you have your own system, you also have the option of just getting the weekly stats as they are provided in text, csv and xml formats.

I purchased the weekly stats but when I try to download the stats, why does it tell me that the user name/password is invalid?

In order to be able to download stats files (after week 4), you need to give me a user name and password that you want to use to access the stats (this information should be given when you order the stats). You need to enter the same user name and password in FFA (NFL Info menu - User Name/Password). When I receive this information I need to add it to an access file and it may take up to 30 minutes to be activated. Your user name and password should NOT contain any of the following special characters /, @, #, %, ?, or : . If they do, then these characters interfere with the proper url formatting to be able to download files from within FFA.

When I import stats, it only asks me for the offensive file, but there is also a team defense file. Why doesn't FFA ask me for the name of the team defense file?

The names of the files are almost identical, except for 1 character. After FFA processes the offensive file, it will automatically look for the team defense file based on the name of the offensive file selected. It will also automatically import the individual defensive player file if it is present.

I can't find a player in the NFL roster list. What do I do?

You should use NFL Player Maintenance to add new players. There is an Add button on the first screen. If you run across this situation during the draft, then you can manually add a player by clicking on the Manual button. If you are importing stats, then make sure you enter the Player ID for the player, otherwise that player's stats will not be updated if you import stats. The master player files (PLAYERS.NFL for offensive players and DEFENSE.NFL for defensive players) are present in the folder where FFA is installed.

How are playoffs handled?

FFA does not have any "automatic" playoff format. Since there are so many different ways that playoffs can be handled, I've left it up to the commissioner to determine what teams are in the playoffs and what teams play each other. When the current week is greater than the number of weeks you have entered for "regular weeks", then FFA knows that you are in a playoff week. You will have to enter the playoff schedule for that week, but you only have to include playoff teams. FFA also handles scheduling of byes for playoff weeks.

There is an update available on your web site. If I download and install the update, will I have to set up my league information again?

Updates will only update your program files. The data files for your league(s) are not affected. But it is always a good idea prior to installing an update to perform a backup, just in case something doesn't update correctly.

Our league used FFA last year and want to upgrade to this year's version. Our league is a "keeper" league, where each owner keeps most of the players from year to year. How should I upgrade to this year's version so I don't have to re-enter league information and team rosters?

You won't have to re-enter league information and team rosters since there is a conversion from the previous year's version. Before upgrading, perform a backup. Then install the upgrade to the same directory where FFA is currently installed. The first time you run FFA it will convert your league information to the current year's format and it will also update the NFL player file with new players and also update existing players that have changed NFL teams. Finally, use Clear For New Season from the League Maintenance menu and select the Keeper option.

I would like to have FFA installed on more than one computer. What files do I have to copy each week to keep them in sync?

First you have to make sure you run the installation program on both machines. Then after you have updated everything for the week on one computer, run the Backup Data function to backup the data files to a diskette. Then use the Restore Data function on the second computer and then your data files will be the same. While it is not mandatory, it is recommended that the installation folder for FFA be the same on both computers.

If I have FFA installed on more than one computer, do I have to pay for each computer?

While each computer has its own unique registration code, you do not have to pay for each computer. When you register FFA, you are intitled to register up to 3 different computers. If you need to put FFA on more than 3 computers then there will be a small fee for registering additonal computers.

Our league awards fantasy points for a stat that FFA does not automatically handle. What should I do for these types of points?

For any points that FFA does not handle automatically, you can enter those points in the Miscellaneous Points field for the player using Manual Stats Entry. Note that there are 2 fields for entering miscellaneous points. The first is for "This League Only" and the other is for "All Leagues". These are separate fields in order to handle the situation where you have multiple leagues and not all leagues have the same scoring system. If you only have 1 league, or all your leagues use the same scoring system, then you should always use "All Leagues". Entering a value in the "This League Only" field will do just that, award those points for the player only for the current league. Entering a value in the "All Leagues" field will award those points to that player for all leagues, meaning you only have to enter the points for one league, and all the other leagues will recognize the points for the player.

A player this week scored on a punt return. The team that had this player and also the team that had the Special Teams position got credit for the punt return. Our league only awards points for punt/kickoff returns for the Special Teams, and not to the player. How do I prevent FFA from awarding points for these type of scoring plays to the player?

FFA is awarding points to the player because you have the scoring table for offensive positions set up to give points to the player for these types of scores. If you don't want a player to get points for a punt/kickoff/blocked kick return, then update the offensive scoring table and enter 0 for the point value for these types of scores. Note that the offense, defense and special teams scoring tables all have these types of scores in their table, so you can determine which positions are to get the points for these types of scores. You can have just 1 position, all positions, or any combination of positions get the points.

What do HP and PR represent on the Standings report?

HP stands for High Points and represents the number of times the team has had overall high points for the week. PR stands for Power Rating which is used to identify the more consistent higher scoring teams. A team will get 2 points for each team they would have beaten that week, and 1 point for a tie. So in a 12 team league, the team scoring the most points that week will get 22 power rating points (since that team would have beaten the other 11 teams in the league, 11 x 2 = 22), and the team that scored the least number of points would get 0 power rating points for the week. The power rating is a good indicator of which teams consistently score more points. For example, using win/loss record, one team could be 2-0 (winning 10-9 and 13-10) and another team 0-2 (losing 45-47 and 36-40). Obviously the 0-2 team has a much stronger team, but they lost because of who the played that week. The 0-2 team in this case would have a higher power rating number than the 2-0 team.

I did the Clear League For New Season so why do players show stats when I run the Weekly Scores report for week 1 even though the first week hasn't been played yet?

The Clear League For New Season will only reset the stats for the league such as rosters, standings, current week, etc. and not the NFL player stats. Use Reset NFL Player Stats on the NFL Info menu to reset all the player stats from the previous year.
